OWL
Leading/Trailing Edge Serration Research
Research Question
Do owl-inspired leading/trailing edge serrations produce statistically significant improvements in lift-to-drag ratio (dL/D >= 5%) or sound pressure level (dSPL >= 5 dB)?

What This Result Does Not Prove
This result does NOT prove: actual aerodynamic improvement, serration effectiveness, acoustic reduction, or structural safety. xfoil_validated = false. PARAMETRIC AERODYNAMIC MODEL ≠ EXPERIMENTALLY VALIDATED AERODYNAMICS.
Next Research Step
Execute sim-xfoil-owl (E-010 M1). Run sim-openfoam-owl. Flutter FEA + tap test.
Complete E-011 prototype. Wind tunnel testing. Acoustic testing. Deferred.
Role
OWL researches owl-inspired leading/trailing edge serrations for passive aerodynamic (dL/D) and acoustic (dSPL) benefits. Campaign C04.
Digital Results
C11 OWL parametric aero sweep executed. L/D curve generated with parametric model. Simulation-only.
Physical Results
No wind tunnel tests. No acoustic tests. OWL insert STLs in inventory (79-part set). Partial LE photos from audit. No flutter tap test.
Proven
C11 parametric aero sweep: L/D curve generated. OWL LE/TE configurations specified in PDR. Insert STLs listed. Falsifiable hypothesis with null-publish rule.
Not Yet Validated
dL/D >= 5% (XFOIL NOT RUN). dSPL >= 5 dB (acoustic tests NOT RUN). Flutter risk unknown for TE serrations. All results parametric/simulation-only — no XFOIL/OpenFOAM validation.
